NORTH TARANAKI HUNT MEETING.
On Friday next, July 9, at 9 p.m., nominations close with the secretary, Mr E. L. Humphries, at New Plymouth for the North Taranaki Hunt meeting to be held on July 29. The present is a bad time for trainers owing to the high, price of feed, and this should prove an incentive to owners of horses, not only in Taranaki, but in other districts, to send representatives to the meeting. The programme has been drawn up on a liberal scale, the .sum of £340 being distributed over seven events. A handsome silver cup, valued at 20 sovs., also goes to the winner of the North Taranaki Hunt Steeplechase. Three events are set down for hacks, each race being endowed with 45 sovs. The other four races are for bona fide hunters. The principal race on the programme is the Hunt Steeplechase, which is worth 100 sovs. and the cup. The Hunt is launching out on rather an ambitious scale, but it need not fear, for owners and the public will accord the Hunt their liberal support. The widely known and capable starter, Mr C. O'Connor, has been engaged to effect the despatches. Mr G. Morse will frame the handicaps, -which should
appear on or about Friday, July 9th, acceptances close on Friday, July 23rd at 9 p.m.
