Advice has been received of the death, at the Melbourne Hospital of Private RoyVnell, son of Mr .). C Bell, of -Oakum. Private Bell left with the first New Zealand Expedi tionary Force, and after fighting at the Dardanelles for several weeks was invalided home. On reaching Melbourne complications set in, and tlieie Private Bell died. Private Bell was a prominent Taranaki cyclist.

William Sowerby, of Taranaki. the New Zealand, medical travelling scholar, for 19X3, was, at the beginning of the. year, appointed resident medical officer of the Hospital for, Epijepsy and, Paralysis. Maida Vale. Last year Dr. Sojyerby was attached to the Middlesex Hospital, being the holder of' the New Zealand scholarship at that institution. He intends to continue in bis present position until the end of October, when he hopes to gain experience in other medical subjects. i
