An Auckland Press Association telegram states: The schooner Eliza Firth, while beating out of Kaipara Harbour yesterday, grounded at. the inner end of Tory shoal, but was floated off this morning and beached iii Waikori Bay.
In connection-with the sly-grog case dealt with this morning, the Police asked for an order for forfeiture of tbe liquor which had been seized.—Mr R. Spence objected,, and' contended that the charge under which defendant was charged with having liquor on his pre--mises for sale had been withdrawn.
The liquor was seized under a warrantj issued in connection with the charge: that had been withdrawn. There w»s no connection between these proved charges and the warrant.—The Police relied on Section 229 of the Licensing Act.—His Worship said that he would; have to compare, the Acts of 1881 and of 1908 to see what bearing they had on a- case which was quoted as. an authority. He-,would give a decision on this point, next Friday.
