The revenue returns show that t'ie Post Office expenditure ex ; • • i the revenue by £623.275. Commonwealth notes circulated numbered thirty-two and a half millions, against which mere was a gold reserve of £119,390. The expenditure on old age and invalid pensions for the year was £339.400.
Of the eighteen million loan granted by the imperial Government and of the subsequent six million loan, about fourteen million have already been received.
It is understood that an early loan to nuance public works and other purposes will he floated. Possibly. .Mr Fisher will follow the example of the Imperial Government in appealing to tlie small investor. Mr Fisher, in announcing the financial position, said tlie Commonwealth's difficulties were not all visible, but there was good reason for care,-cau-tion, and courage. But .for the war there would have been a surplus of £317,678.
FINANCE IN THE STATES. Melbourne, July 2. Victoria's revenue for the year was £10.144.688. decrease of £458,219. Adelaide. July 2. The revenue for the year wa s £3, ■ 995,294, a decrease of £827,472. Brisbane, July 2.
The Brisbane revenue was £7,202.6.58, an increase of £229,400. The year ended with a surplus of £3,259."

At the annual meeting of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australasia. sympathetic references were made to Anthomy Wilding's death, and a committee was appointed to devise a scheme for perpetuating his memory. Appreciation was expressed of Ame•ica not challenging for the Davis Jup. The Association's bank deposits total £3738. Mr Colquhoun was elected president.
