The Gisborne Racing Club's Steeplechase Meeting opened to-day in glorious weather, and with a large attendance. Results:—
Maiden Hack Race, of lOOsovs., four furlongs, weight 9st.—-Carlysian 1, Potentiality 2, Lord Ainslie 3. Scratched : Mossman. Won by half a length, three .lengths between second, and third. Time, 48*sec, Park Hurdles, of 250sovs, two miles —Black Northern..(ll.l2). 1, Hurakia (10.9) 2, Player (11.8) :). Also started: Grey King and Monorail. Grey King broke a fetlock. A great finish. Won by inches. Time, 3min 47sec. Flying Handicap, of loOsovs., six furlongs.—Diavolo (10.7) 1, Multiful (9.7) 2, Kauri King (10.8) 3. Scratched: Hewanga and Hymen. Won by a nose, a neck between second and third. Time, lmin 16sec.
Steeples, of 400sovs.. about 3 miles. —Faggot (Q. 7) 1. Cousin Jack (10.1) 2. Golden Glow (11.13) 3. Also started : Rustic and Dogger Bank. Won by eight lengths, the same distance between second and third, Rustic fourth, and Dogger Bank tilth. Time 6min 23sec.
