DOMINION DAIRY SHOW.
THE OPENINC DAY. The opening day of the Dominion Dairy Show at Hawera yesterday was a great success, though tthe showery weather undoubtedly affected the attendance. To-day being beautifully tine, crowds have gone from this district to see the really fine exhibition. The exhibits are much more numerous than was the case hist year, the increases being most noticeable in dairy produce, machinery and poultry. Arrangements were noticeably good, and reflect credit on the secretary, Mr H. A. Lennon, and the officials with whom he is associated. The ceremony of formally opening the show was performed by Mr E. Dixon, the Mayor, who was briefly introduced by the president of the, society, Mr 1). J. Goodwin. In the course of his remarks, Mr Dixon congratulated the promoters on thensplendid efforts and wished the show every success. It was an exhibition of which they might all be proud, and which was of great benefit to the district.
Home industries and art formed a very big local section, and'the Government display is without doubt the finest and most comprehensive display of cereals, fruit and produce, ever got together in Taranaki.
On Saturday the Show will close down, and on that day an added attraction will be the Wanganui-Tara-naki football match. Special delayed trains are to run for the convenience of those people wishing to stay later.
