Mr W. A. Low is in Stratford making arrangements for the appearance of the lied Dandies at the Town Hall next Saturday night. Constable Mackerel, recently stationed at Stratford, hut for some time in charge of the Te Wera district, has been transferred to the West Coast of the South Island. Archbishop Redwood, Wellington, lias received a cable stating that Bishop Clear}', of Auckland, who is on a visit to Sydney, is seriously ill, and undergoes an operation to-day. Private advice received in Auckland by Mrs Caroline Merrick states that her son. Driver John James Merrick, who left with the Fifth Reinforcements, died of meningitis whila en routo to Egypt.—P.A. From Thursday next, l«t July, His Majesty's Theatre will be under the management of Mr Fred Foley, a well-known member of the theatrical profession, who comes to Stratford from Auckland. It is Madame Bernard's intention to leave immediately ' on u holiday extending over several ' months, the major portion of which will be spent in Australia, and during which Mr Foley will conduct the picture business. Madame Bernard will be accompanied by her husband, Mr Will Diamond, ami her son, Mr Sid Bernard, all of whom, it will be admitted, have well earned a lengthy respite from their duties, having personally attended to the business since its inception by Madame Bernard over four years ago.
