NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Thursday, 17th inst., at Sentry Hill, for Mr W. J. B. Patau's sale, i considering the very boisterous wea- I ther. 1 had a good attendance of the | public and good bidding for all lines ottered. The pedigree Jersey cows wore in lair condition and realised satisfactory prices, ranging from 20 to 26}gus. pedigree .heifers -15 - to 23}gns., pedigree heifer calves 10} to 13gns., grade heifers £8 ss, grade cows sold at from £6 5s to £ll 17s 6 I. averaging £8 13s, gig and harness £|<) 1.5, farm gelding £1" 10s. At Waiwakaiho on Friday there was a good entry and a satisfactory sale was held, most of the yarding j being cleared at prices showing an improvement on recent sales. Dairy •cows varded were nothing special in quality, but some good heifers were offered and sold, prices obtained being as follows:—Dairy cows £6 5s to £8 15s. poor sorts £3 15s to £4 10s. good springing heifers £6 10s to £< 12s 6d, vounger £4 15s to £5 lis fail, 'small £3 12s Gel to £-1 7s 6(1, weaner Jersey heifers £1 10s, smaller weaner heifers £1 Us to £2 9s, weaner ste-n; £1 10s to £2 9s. bulls £5 2s 6d, forward cows £4 10s to £6 17s 6d, si ore cows £2 10s to £4 Is. On Thursday, at Kiore, for Mr Joe Law's clearing sale, I had a fair attendance of the public considering the awful weather. I sold a few sundries iid the sheep, but could not offer the cows, as, owing to the torrential rain it was just impossible to see them across the saleyards. and the cows were therefore brought to the Stratford dairy yards on Tuesday, making a satisfactory average of £o Is for the line, including the very backward October and November carvers. The 2-tooth wethers brought 18s and the 2-tooth ewes 16s, all small sheep. At Dougls on Monday, 21st inst., weaner heifers made £1 5s to £1 6s, ditto small 16s and 18s, bulls £4, in calf heifers £5 ss, springing cows £6 10s, emptpy heifers £2 17s, fat heif- ' ers £5 5s to £6, fat cows £8 to £0 ;3s, forward cows £5 7s 6d to £5 18s, store cows £4 2s, f.m. ewes in lamb 16s 4d to 17s, cull ewes 10s 5d to 12s. On the same day, at Albert Road, for Mr W. E. Orr's, junr., clearing 'sale, there was a good attendance despite the very cold weather. Dairy cows were in' fair condition, showing good returns and sold at from £5 foliate calvers to £lO 10s for good young sorts, making a fair average of £7 10s for the line of 21. Farm horses were in keen demand, realising £27 to £3l os, f.m. ewes in lamb 12s 3d to 17s.

At Stratford on Tuesdy, 22nd, there was a medium entry of cattle and a small yarding of sheep. Bidding throughout was good, most lines during the day changinag hands at the following prices: Rough, empty heifers £2 to £2 Bs, good yearling heifers £1 to £1 Bs, small 6s 6d to 17s, hulls £3 lis, in calf 20 month heifers £3 4s, fat ewes £1 Is 6d, ewes in lamh. mixed ages, 17s 6d, cull ewes Cs 6d to 12s lid, fat cows £7 lis to £9 'is, fat heifers £6 6s to £7 Bs. forward cows £4 16s to £5 18s 6d, good fresh cows £3 18s to £4 12s, light framed cows £2 2s to £3 16s.

On \yednesday, at Stony River, there was a full yarding of good cattle ,which met with brisk competition from the start to finish, buyers being unsatisfied at the close of the sale. A special entry on account <;!' Mr A. E. flagon sold as follows:50 steers, 15 mouth to 2 year ohl, with some Jersey £3 13s, 2 to 2-j year steers £4 13s Cd, store cows £3 Is, 15 month empty heifers £2 2s Cd, small weaner heifers lGs, other prices were: weaner heifers (good) £1 7s 6d to £1 9s. smaller 13s to £1 "Is, weaner steers, mostly small and rough cattle 19s to £1 15s Od, empty 15 and 18 month heifers £1 19s to £2 lis, 2 year steers £4 Is to £3 10s. nice pen of 2} year steers in forward condition £7 7s, springing heifers £ ( . ; 12s 6d, young store cows £2 7s Gd to £.'s ss, dairy bulls £9, 15 month bulls 3gns., in calf heifers, 2 year olds, £3 5s 6d to £ I 2s. nice line of 3 year old heifers (Ayrshire-Short-horn) £6 12s, cows and calves £5 lis, in calf cows (good condition) £3 15s to £6 9s. fat cows £8 17s Gd, fat and forward cows £7 Is to £7 7s, forward cows £4 15s to £5 17s (id, fresh conditioned cows £3 18s (id to £-1 Ss 6d, I store cows £3 7s to £3 12s, lambs Ills.

At Midhirst on Thursday, 24th, for Mr W. Hardy Jones' sale, there was a good attendance, and Lidding; for all lines offered. The herd of cows were a nice line, selling at from £7 5s to £l2 10s, averaging £!) 3s for the line, springing heifers brought £6 15s and £7, young bull £2 17s 6d, gig £6 10s, Innn gelding £27, dray £7. On account of other vendors, springing heifers, choice, made £7 10s and £8 10s. choice dairy cow £l3 10s, I Private Sales. There is an improved demand For most classes, particularly dairy cattle. I supply prices obtained during the last Fortnight.
