THE TRIAL OF DE WET. SERIOUS EFFECT OF THE REBELLION. Urnfin Prim Amooiahob. (Received 8.25 a.m.) Bloemfontein, June 16. General Smuts, giving evidence at the trial of l)e Wet, said the rebellion delayed the German South-West African operations for months and gave the enemy very material assistance. General Smuts emphasised the point that he had not discovered anything to suggest that He Wet had ~een in communication with the Germans.
