THE WESTERN FRONT. The High Commissioner icj,-it<:— London, June lo (3 30 p.m.) Official.—The Fromn communications referring to ih > German communiques on Saturday and Sunday says: No German counter-attacks- succeeded i" the labyrinth near Hobutc-rne or Qfi'eu'neviere's. Our attacks continued to progress in both neighbourhoods of the Souclr.'/. labyrinth ;:nd near Hebuterne. for more than a month in the north and south of Arias and between the Oise and the Aisne, we made continuous success, and all attacks succeeded brilliantly. It is not a case of guerilla warfare, lint ->i attacks extending over the front of brigades or divisions, meaning for the Germans the loss of two or three thou* sand men killed in a single day. A? liiineville, German airmen who wer'j chased by two French airmen threw at random live bombs, which caused neither accident nor loss. In the direction of Quennevieres farm, after allday artillery duels, the German attack was directed during the night against the trenches which the French won on .June 8. but it was completely routed On the Dniester the enemy attacked on the nights of the L3tll and 14th obstinately, but without .result, the Russians at the bridge-head near the village of Xi/mow, north-east of Alariaiupol. On the left bank of the Dniester the Russians delivered an exceptionally audacious counter-attack,dur-ing which several companies of the Tyro. lese Rifles and the Twentieth Jaegar Battalion were almost entirely sabred when being dispersed. On the 14th a detachment of Russian Territorials counter-attacked, and being supported by other units, took 400 prisoners, including eight officers.
