NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Monday. 7th ihsfc., at my Toko yards, I had a fair entry, all of which i was able to clear at the following prices: Small weaner heifers lis to 17s (3d, store cows £4 5s to £4 13s, empty heifers £2 15s to £3 5s 6d, springing heifers £6 to £7 15s, dairy cows £7 los, 2J year steers £6, incalf heifers £4 5s to £4 15s. On the same day at Sentry Hill, for Mr J. Penticost's clearing sale, 1 had a good attendance. The cow« were ;■ good conditioned line, a fair number t.howing a lot of Jersey. These were keenly competed for, but other grade sorts, small and late, considerably reduced the average, which, however, made £7 18s for the herd of 33. Choice cows showing well in calf realised from £9 10s to £l2 l()s, good sorts £(5 15s to £8 10s, small and backward £4 10s to £5, grade bull £6 15s, well grown 2 year Jersey heifers £5 5s to £0 15s, late (-silvers' £4, weaner heifers (exceptionally well done) £1 10s (id. The sundries and implements were in good order and met with brisk bidding. At Stratford on Tuesday, Bth inst., there was only a fair entry of cattle and two small pens of, sheep. Buyers were present in good numbers, the demand beink much in excess of the supply, and good prices were' realised. Good cows, in fact, anything with condition on. is enquired for. On Wednesday, 9th inst., for my Stony River sale there was a small enijry. which sold at improved rates as follows:—Mixed weaners 30s 6d, weaner heifers 245, small weaner steers 29s Gd, small weaner heifers 16s; choice 2 year Jersey heifers (calv£7 12s Gd, forward cows £4 15s to £6 14s. store cows £3 to £3 18s, springing heifers £6.

On the same day at Kohuratahi, there was a fair entry and attendance, and the following sales were made:— 2 tooth ewes 18s, small 15s, 2 and 4 tooth wethers £1 3s Id, lambs 14s Id to 93 9d, store cows £3 3s to £4, pony, saddle and bridle £B. At Xgaere on Thursday, I,oth inst., for Mrs H. Kenny's clearing sale, there was a good attendance, and the stock having been well eared for, and showing fair quality, good competition was obtained, the herd of 30 averaging £9 (is 3d. The best cows made np to £ls ss, others £7 to £9 15s, aged or late calvers £5 15s to £6 10s, empty cow £3 15s, bull £lO 15s, weaner heifers £1 75..
