PERSONAL.
The Borough Council at last night’s meeting passed a motion of sympathy with the relatives of Sergeant-Majors Bonar and McGlade, Sergeant Dewhirst, and Private Randrup in the loss they suffered at the Dardanelles. Quite a gathering of personal friends assembled at the Stratford Railway Station this morning to farewell Mr and Mrs P. G. Budd, who left by the south express eu route for their new home at Wairoa. Mr Budd, who for some years lias been a popular member of the New Zealand Bonn and Mercantile Company’s staff and Auctioneer for the Stratford District, was last night the recipient of a handsome travelling hag as a mark of the esteem in which he is bold by lus fellow-workers, many nice things regarding Mr Budd being said. On Saturday evening members of the Stratford Chib made Mr Budd a presentation, and Mrs Budd w;as similarly honoured by Stratford lady friends a few days ago.
