An atrocious tragedy has occurred at Stanmore, resulting in the deaths of Mrs Tucker and her brother, Ernest Matheson, and the attempted suicide of the murderer John Thomas Tucker. According to the story told by the Tuckers' 15-year-old soi., tne father recently was sent to gaol for not complying with a maintenance order. Returning home he gained admittance, at a window and tied his wif t to a bedpost where she remained all night, while he himself slept, ai*>u keeping the boy in the room. ' Matneson called next morning and was admitted. Tucker threatening him with a revolver made the boy bind Math.>son's eyes and hands. Tucker then beat his head with the butt of the revolver till the man was dead. Tucker then returned to bed and slept throughout the day. The boyworn out with watching, was awakened in the night by his mother's cries, and found his father beating her. He continued his fiendish work till she was dead. Tucker then shot himself, and is in hospital in a serious condition. The boy. escaped and informed the police.
