PERSONAL.
Sergeant Dewhirst ("Hotty" as bis schoolfellows called him) who was killed at the Dardanelles, was one of tbe most successful old boys of tbe Stratford District High School. He came originally from Egmont Village to Stratford, where his parents resided. He was for some years in the Bank of New South Wales at Stratford, and was looked upon as a young officer who would rise to a high position in the Bank's service. He was transferred to Cbristcburch, at which centre he enlisted. Private Holger Randrup joined tbe Stratford District High School after going through the primary school at Stanley Road, where his parents lived for many years, being most highly esteemed. His school career was marked by special brilliancy in penmanship. On leaving school be joined the Lands Department office at "Wellington. He made rapid progress in the Department and was transferred to Auckland, where he joined the Expeditionary Force. Mr and Mrs Randrup. senior, are now living at Hamilton.
