JAMES W ILL IA MS,: . AETAT 77. Pep Press Association. Hastings, June 11. Obituai'y: James Nelson Williams, of Friinley, aged 77. Deceased, who came to Hawke’s Bay shortly after the arrival of the Rev. ( Samuel Williams, was at Te Ante in the ’oO’s, and acquired his wellknown festate near Hastings, where he has resided ever since. He was the pioneer of shoop-ftfrpiipg not ojily here but on the East Coast, for, in co-oper-ation with the Rev. Samuel Williams he was instrumental in bringing into profitable occupation large areas of land in that part of the Dominion. He was of a kindly and generous disposition, whose good deeds were many and widespread. He presented Hastings with a park i\pd the Ngpier Hospital with a ward and was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those who were in need. He was a great ch.urchman, and the ,Chui;ch of England in this district owes much to his beneficence. He leaves four sons, Messrs H. 8., A. £, C. 8., and E. B.' Williams, and three daughters > Mrs F. Nelson, Mrs A. H. Russell, and Miss E. Williams.
