Recently the Westland County Council sent an appreciative message through the Defence Office to General Godley, recognising the splendid work done by the Australasians in the Dardanelles, and the following reply Has been received : “Mr Clifton, chairman of the Westland County Council.—On behalf of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and Westland men in particular, 1 tl(ank you for your kind cable. Ihe gallantry of the New Zealanders has been unsurpassed.—Godley, Teuedos, June Bth'.”
