WOUNDED SOLDIERS FUND.
In a recent issue of the Salvation Army Official Gazette, "TheM War Cry," Commissioner Hodder, in appealing for funds for the wounded soldiers in the hospitals at Malta, Alexandria,-and England, said: —':We must not rest .satisfied till we see a nation on its knees before God, pleading for a cessation of this terrible war." Following on that appeal comes a cable from General Booth announcing that Thursday, .June 17th, shall he recognised throughout the Army world as a day of Intercessory Prayer, specially on behalf of those who are so sorely suffering in connection with this terrible war, and lor a speedy restoration of peace. Commissioner Hodder says:—"l have therefore decided that all our Army Halls shall be open from it a.m. till 9 p.m. that there may be one continuous and earnest pleading going up to God for His mighty interposition. There never was a time in the World's history when prayer was more needed. Men are facing the terrors of war in a manner as has never been known—suffering is intense; broken hearts are to be found everywhere. Let us, therefore, draw aside with bowed heads, and in sincere supplication plead for succour to all who are in sorrow, arid for the cessation of the terrible* combat. Forward to God! Ffe lives to hear and answer prayer."
