KOHURATAHI FUNCTION.
PRESENTATION TO IViR R. WILSON. [(•'ROM OCR OWN COIUIKSroNDENT.] One of the most popular servants on the P.W'.D. <m the Stratford Main Trunk was Mr "Boh" Wilson, assistant overseer on the new construction works, who left Kohuratahi on Monday to take up new duties at Whangaref. ".At the meeting of the 1.0.0. F., Pohatn Lodge, lie was the recipient of a splendid travelling rug, presented b\ Ids brother Oddfellows. Alter the business of the lodge lie was entertained to ' supper and music. N.G. Bro. Brown, in making the presentation, said lie hoped Bro, Wilson would have the same comradeship and good luck ill his new venture, which was the wish of all his brothers. Mr Wilson suitably responded, and remarked although some distance would separate them, he would S always remember his parent Lodge. On Saturday afternoon about 50 of I the workers met in the new goods sheds in Kohuratahi yards to V( ' I "Bob" a send-off, also to l make Mrs ! Wilson a present. Glowing tributes i were paid to his ability, straight--1 forwardness, ami manly qualities by Messrs R. Hill, D. Wildermoth, I). I Brown, M. Cronin . V. -Myers, A. Cameron, ami .). Barlow. -Mr •!. Jones, in making the present 'a purse of sovereigns), said he hoped -Mi's Wilson would benefit by the change of climate, and on behalf of a.ll his workmates he wished them all good luck and God speed. Mr Wilson, who was visibly affected in replying, said he hoped he would meet with as good a, lot of workmen where he was going, for they ! had been everything he could wish for, find had made his duties much easier 1 for him. On behalf of Mrs Wilson am; himself he thanked them for their kindness. On Saturday night the officials gave him a send oil'. .Mr I'. Keller in the chair. Thi' speakers were loud in their praise id Mr !!. Wilson, and stated that they were sorry to lose his services, and hoped the change would prove a mutual benefit to himself and liis wife and family. Mr Keller presented Mr Wilson with a purse tit' sovereigns on behalf of the staff. Mr Wilson feelingly responded, thanking all his Friends, and statins.!: that he was making the change on account of his. wife's health. A musical evening was contributed to by Messrs Potts, Aunaud, Wildermoth, Peterson, and Ceo. White, and Mr I'. Keller gave some humorous recitations.
