AMUSEMENTS.
H.M. THEATRE. A big melo-dramatic play, 5000 feet long, is the feature of to-night's programme. This is entitled "The Ordeal," by the Life Motion Picture Company, and is a sensational story of a true soldier who will not reveal his secret: His mother and father are tortured and killed before his eyes, and he remains silent; his sister pleads before her torture and death, but still he is mute; his sweetheart is dragged before him, tortured and killed, but he still refuses to tell. By not speaking he is saving a thousand comrades' lives. The Pathe War Gazette depicts realistic scenes. View of inundated Flanders—Colonial horse and Belgian lancers—maxim guns at work —British Wounded at Le Touquet, etc. There are two good comedies, "The ,Maid of Sweden," and "Getting to the 'Ball Game." e TOWN HALL. RETURNED WOUNDED SOLDIERS' FUND. On Thursday evening a special grand dance will be given, promoted by Madame Bei'liard. The admission will be free, but a collection will be taken up. The floor is now being prepared, and with Bernard's Picture Orchestra in attendance a real bumper house should be assured. Stratford is always to the fore in patriotic matters, and this will give, a chance to show that Our Wounded Boys are not being forgotten. "They are helping us. So help them."
