.Mr Isaac Hopkins, who is described as "the lather of hee-keeping in \o\v Zealand,"' was presented with a mark of esteem by the members of the National Beekeepers' Association at the recent conference in Wellington. The Government Biologist (Mr T. W. Kirk) said that to Mr Hopkins they owed the initiation of the Xew Zealand Apiaries Act. He had letters from Australia, England, America, and Germany testifying to the fact that the Act was the best apiaries legislation ever passed.
