Members of the Stratford Five Brigade are looking forward confidently to the performance of tin' pantomime, "Cinderella," on J nno 21 and *2o in the Town Hall, when bumper houses are anticipated. For some months past over forty young poopde of both sexes have been practising assiduously, and their efforts promise to be crowned with' great, success. Some idea of the amount of time and trouble necessary to stage "Cinderella" is afforded by some striking photographs now on view in several business places in Broadway. The character*; in "Cinderella,'' and also in the farce "Laughing Gas," which is to be staged as a curtain-raiser, are displayed in fulldress rehearsal, and are exciting much interest among passers-by.

Samples of paper clotliing for the soldier in the field have reached Wellington. They have been sent out to the local branch of James Spicer and Sons, the inventors and makers, and take the form of a" waistcoat and waders. They are made of a particularly tough paper specially prepared to keep (int damp and cold. The waistcoat is worn under regimental clothing and tied with light cotton tapes. Its weight is inconsiderable, and when rolled up measures 9 inches long by 1 inch in diameter. The waders are made of the same material. The soldier practically puts his legs into paper hags, and he can wear them over or under !iis puttees as the case may be. The hoots, of course, are worn over the wader, which reaches to the thigh.

"Not much game about" is the usual cheery response of most local sports on being questioned as to their luck. There has not been a great deal of game about for some years. The eftmmittee expect a large attendance of sports, their motto being "more members, more sport." The post cards are the work of Mr H. Williams, manager of tho Stratford Mountain House.
