GENERAL.
The British Postmaster-General announces that the overland transmission of Australian and Now Zealand mails Avas resumed on the 11th. Up to April 11 the British casualties all told were 1119.31/. They are probably over 200.000 by this time. Germany’s must be over three millions. The Mayor of Wellington has been advised that Messrs Sargood, Sun and Ewen are contributing a further sum of £IOOO to the patriotic funds. The Napier Borough ('mined has decided to submit to the ratepayers a proposal to borrow £68,000 for the purpose. of tramway extensions, electric light extensions, and necessary additions to the power-house plant. I I The Wellington City Conned has refused to take delivery of motor omnibuses ordered through the firm of 'Richardson, McCabe and Co., Melling- , ton, and that firm has now served the I Corporation with a writ for breach of . contract.
