TRENTHAM (15) V. AUCKLAND (5). A team from Trentham journeyed to Auckland to play A match on Saturday against an Auckland fifteen in aid of the Hospital Ship. Early in the first spell Lynch marked and Murray shot a goal for Trenthnm. Lang, for Auckland, then made a great run, and beating three Trentham men, scored. Stewart converted. In the second spell Trentham re-arranged their back and their forwards put more dash in the play. Murray added to the score by kicking a penalty, and later Wilson scored for the soldiers. Murray was again successful with a long shot from a mark, the final score, bringing the soldiers’ score to fifteen, was a try by Paul. Mr G. Nicholson refereed. TARANAKI MATCHES. TUKAPA (17) V. OKATO (8). At Okato on Saturday Tukapa defeated the local team after a good game. The Okato forwards were superior, but Tukapa made the game open and enabled their backs to do good work. Okato scored first, tries being registered by O’Sullivan and one of the forwards. Neither was converted. Just before the interval Tito scored for Tukapa, leaving the scores at half-time—Okato 6, Tukapa 3. On resuming Okato forwards set up a hot attack, but by superior back play Tukapa added three tries (one converted) to their score. Okato attacked continuously, but could not score; the Tukapa forwards made a strong rush, but wore pulled up by off-side play.
