SAM MARINO REPUBLIC. JOINS ITALY IN THE WAR. XIMPS A XX) SVDNKY SUN HsitVlCl. (Received 8.0 a.m.) London, June 5. It is reported that the Republic of San Marino has associated itself with Italy and declared war. (gan Marino, the smallest State in Europe, and the smallest Republic in the, world, lies on the spurs of the Appennines between the provinces of Forli and the Pesaro, Italy. It consists of a rocky mountain upwards of ‘>ooo feet high with an area of 23 square miles, and a population of 11,500. The Government executive is composed of twelve members, selected from the Sovereign Grand Council of sixty, of whom one-third are nobles). MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. Pm-nsD Prbcd Ashooiatiow Rome, June 6. An Italian cruiser found a German waterplane lying on the sea off Brindisi. The aviators, apparently, were drowned. The Austrians, in the Trentino, when retiring towards the Fiemme Valley, destroyed the magnificent mountain health resort of Saan Martina, including six German hotels. Austrian soldiers of Italian nationality are daily deserting, and are asking to be enrolled in the Italian Army. Official: Our offensive near the Ison■/.o River is beset with great difficulties on the ground for formidable enemy entrenchments, numerously manned, and equipped with machine-guns and artillery. After fluctuation the action throughout Thursday and Friday on the summit and slopes of Montenegro remained in our possession. Our advanace continues on the rest of the front.
THE ITALIANS ADVANCE. (Received 9.5 a.m.) Rome, June 6. Official.—The concentrating movement of great massed troops continues everywhere in perfect order, and the advance continues on the front, St. Elvis to the sea.
