THE TAUMARUNI SEAT.

.Mr W. T. Jennings addressed a meeting at Ohura last night. He dealt trenchantly with the ineptitude of the present' Minister for Defence. Defence matters stood paramount above every question in the Dominion to-day. He would support a proposal to set up a board to advise and assist the Defence Department. His suggestion that every man and woman would he taxed in proportion'to what they earned and what their incomes may he in support of the wounded and* of the dependents of members of the New Zealand Korces so long as the war Listed should meet with acceptance. He agreed with Dr. McXab that no leader in the present Parliament would try \'<n- dissolution under the present critical condition of the Empire, and cited as an example Mr Asqnith, the leader of the ' H»me Liberal Government. An enthusiastic vote of thanks and confidence was carried unanimously.
