ACCIDENT ON RAILWAY.
DEATH OF EX-STRATFORDITE. Christchurch, June I. Edward Alger, an old age pensioner, fell from a train at Heathoote to-night and was cut in two, a carriage and van passing over him. Me was standing on the platform at the lime, and led elf as the train started to move. The above sad news refers to the death of Mr Kdward Sewall Alger, who was for sonic years an old and respected resident of Stratford, .i».l who latterly had boon residing in tlie South Island. It is only a weou or two since Mr Alger paid a vis't t<> this district. Mis age was "4. Mlilh sympathy will be extended to -Mr K. A. Alger, who is a son of deceased, and familv in this sudden bereavomont.
