MULING ROBBERY.

LONG ARM OF THE LAW. ARREST IN STRATFORD. Detective Siddells, of Wanganui, and Senior Sergeant McNeely, of Hawera, this morning arrested Axel Edward William Lythberg, railway officer, on a charge of stealing a mailbag at Halcombe on May 14 last year. The bag contained £l4O, and it is understood that accused had several oi the original notes on his person when arrested. He appeared before Mr J. McCluggage, J.P., this morning, and was remanded until 11th June at Wanganui. Bail amounting to one surety of £2OO and one personal surety of £IOO was granted.

Accused has been on the local railnay staff for about six weeks.
