(Received 10.15 a.m.) Sydney, June 1. As the result of the employment of a number of Germans, six hundred employees at the Sydney and Waterloo gasworks struck. The Germans, who are expert blowers, are mostly naturalised, and have been in the employ ot the companies for years, and are members of the union. The management point out that the putting off of the Germans means the idling of many others, because it will be impossible to replace the experts. The company decided not to employ Germans whose work the Britishers were able to do.

The employees of the Neuchatel asphalt works, -which supply the City Council, struck because two Germans wore employed. The management states that the Germans are naturalised and had married Australian women, having been employed for many years. The men have laid their case .before the Council.
