[I'llOM OUR OWN COHKKPi'ONDKNT.I The second euchre (tarty of the season was hold last Thursday evening in tlie Bird lloiul Schoolroom in aid of the Belgians. About 50' persons sat down to play. The ladies prize (a picture) was won I»v .Miss Bonner with 12 -ames to her credit, the gents prize: '(military brushes) was won by Mr L. !,;, lord with 12 games. At the close of play, supper, supplied hv the ladies, was handed round, The room being cleared, dancing coin-' ineiirod, and was kept going till - o'clock. .Mrs'Marsh and Mrs Reynolds, supplying the music m:. the piano, assisted by Mr .Marsh, and Mr Orr on, |,ho violin. Mr Dyson I'llis gave a'j recitation, "Mrs MacSweeuy's Birthday" ; Mr James sang "The British Lion," and being encored, he gave the comic "I forgot the number of my dour" ; Mr .!. I'attinson instituted a guessing competition (a small bottle with heau.s) and gave 5s for the winner. The total number of beans in the bottle was 278, and the winning number was 27(i In Mr W. Mehrtens. who kindly gave the money to tlie cause. Mr R. Mounsey's children gave 5s fid. and many others gave sums ranging from Is to ss. The results of the takings was Cfi ss, which will be handed to the Patriotic Committee. The parties are to be held fortnightly.
