WHANGAMOMONA COUNTY COUNCIL.
TUESDAY'S MEETINC. The following members of the Council wore present:—Councillors A. Meivsdith (chairman), M. Geever, E. H. Roberton, X. R. Cleland, A. Coyne, and J. -McCluggage. A committee consisting of the chairman and Riding members was appointed to deal with the Rimuputa Road tenders.
The Engineer was instructed to carry out additions to the foreman's wlwiv on the Ohura Road, cost not to exceed £250.
Resolved that the Engineer's recommendations re the erection of a shed for plant be carried out, except that the building be erected on the Council's office section.
.McCluggage Bros, wrote re tramway on Ohura Road. Strathmore Riding, and permission was granted subject to the Engineer's approval and supervision, and subject to the usual conditions of indemnity. It was resolved that the rent of the river reserve leased by Airs Dean be reduced from £1 per annum to 10s per annum.
The Council regretted not in a position, to make any reduction in the rates and fine thereon due by MiNathan.
Re the forfeiture of W. Oldham's section, it was resolved that the rates due be written off. The motion of the Southland County Council re tax on motor tyres was approved, and it was :esolve<] to make application to the Minisrer of Internal Affairs to gazette the Whangamomona County Council as a motor registration authority. Cr. Geever was appointed to interview the Pntikituna Road settlers and ascertain their views in view of the fact that the Government was unable to proide the full amount of loan (£1500) asked lor.
Tt was resoled to aoply to the Land Board for "thirds" for the maintenance of the Rimuputa Road.
Application is o be maoe to the Government for grants for loa'Js as scheduled by the Engineer. The "thirds" accrued from the Brewer, Kohi, and Ohura lipids are to he scheduled for maintenance- (Strathmore Riding), also '.he '-thirds" from Moki, Mangaowa'i and Whili«Dga Roads (Tahora Riding).
The Lands and Sudve;. Depaitment is. to be asked >i the "thirds" accrued are sufficient to pay off the Ta.io-a Road loan, so as to receive a balance for maintenance wniks. The matter of Hie u-e of the grs e'er by the School Committee to level the scliool grounds .w-i? leit in the hands of the jEiigiaeed. Accounts s-nwuntjng to £467 6s Id were passed for paynflafc.
