ITALY'S MALE POPULATION.
Italy's total war strength is now given by a reliable authority as :i.-_ji2ti.tnn., including about 2.000,000 til' territorial militia without complete tunning. Italy has a total of some 1:1,000,000 males engaged in various occupations. The population over (ifteen years ol age is about 23,000.000, and the total population last year was rather more than 35.000,000. An important advantage one, indeed, tiiar we are entilled to consider, a writer on this question points out, with the greatest satisfaction—is the homogenous character of the Italian population. Its percentage of aliens is very small. The latest statistics available give Italy only 11,-100 persons of Teutonic origin, the other outsiders comprising about 80,000 of French origin, 90,000 of Albanian. .SI.OOO of Greek, 10,000 of Spanish, and 30.000 Slavs. Thus the nation is practically one of racial unity, while the bulk of the aliens are enemies of the Teutons.
