CANADIAN POLITICS.
Canada does not appear to be having a too happy time politically judging by the reports in recent Home files. In its issue of April 2nd “The Times” printed an arCcle from its
Toronto correspondent giving an account of the vigour with which domestic political quarrels are being prosecuted in the Canadian House of Commons. In a leading article commenting upon its correspondent’s communication, ‘‘The Times ’ said that it was “not pleasant” to turn from Canada’s record of Imperial service to the story of the party dissensions in tiie Canadian Parliament. “Perhaps,” it said, “we shall not bo thought to go too far if we say that recriminations between the parties in the Canadian I Parliament grate just now upon the, national sense ol what is seemly and, dignified. Beyond that, there is nothing to be done but to stand aside and watch—not without a good deal ot unavailing regret—the progress of the, controversy. But we hope that however keen may be the feelings oi Canadians on tiie political issues ol the moment, however ardently they may believe that their interests of the Empire, however firm may lie their con-, victlmi that any other policy is certain to do damage to the cause they have at heart, they will avoid unnecessary bitterness in public discussion. ’
