A Press Association telegram from Dunedin states : Alary McWliinnie (o',]), formerly of North Otago, was killed by a gas explosion at Tarras. It was stated at the inquest that deceased, while carrying a naked light, opened tbe gas chamber of an acetylene plant. The force of tbe explosion fractured the skull, death ensuing in 24 hours.
