Mr F. S. Pope, secretary to the Agricultural Department, announced at the Farmers’ Union banquet that Mr John Brown had been appointed director of the fields division in succession to Mr Clifton. Mr Brown is a student of Glasgow University, and distinguished himself in the Agricultural course. Masters was re-elected chairman. The' Directors’ report states that owing to the uncertainty of the Company’s tenure the Company’s policy had not been to extend its operations to any great extent. However, the pole line had been extended by over one mile; the high tension lines by over one and a-half miles; and over three and a-quarter miles of low tension lines had been erected. The Company had also erected five new transformers, carrying a total of 18-J k.w. Seventy-two new connections for power and light have been installed during the year. Newton), amongst other matters it was pointed out that owing to lamp improvements the householders are now getting better lighting than they got when the older and cheaper lamps were used, and when the rate per unit was the same as it is now. w
