COURTMARTIAL. A LIEUTENANT IN TROUBLE. United aPeebi Association. (Received 10 a.m.) Sydney, May 19. The court-martial of Second Lieut. George William Moore, charged on two counts with disobeying bis superior officer’s orders, is proceeding. Moore was appointed postmaster at Rabaul and Colonel Holmes ordered no person to be allowed to purchase more than ten shillings’ worth of each denomination of surcharged German-New Guinea stamps, which became of high philatelic value. Moore was charged with selling Captain Ravenscroit over ton shillings worth of these stamps, and further, with similarly purchasing himself. The Customs discovered a package in Moore’s baggage, which Moore admitted contained stamps of the face value of one hundred pounds.

.Moore’s defence is that at no time administrative orders were issued placing restriction on the sale of stamps, though there was an order restricting their sale to collectors or dealers.
