An enthusisastic and overflowing patriotic meeting was held in the Opera House, Wanganui, last evening, the Mayor presiding. Resolutions were carried pledging citizens to stand by and support, the King’s Government in every effort and sacrifice necessary to bring the war to a successful issue. It was also resolved—“ That this meeting places on record its appreciation of the valour displayed by the troops of the Dominion, and expresses sympathy with the relatives oi those who have fallen” ; and (2) ‘ That the meeting urges the Government to intern or otherwise put under snpeivisiou all alien enemies, and calls on naturalised subjects to their loyalty.” The speakers included Messrs Veifceh and Newman, M.P.’s.
