A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

At the meeting of the general committee on Saturday afternoon the executive reported as follows: Since last meeting the gymkhana has been held, and despite the counter attractions in other parts of the 'province, proved a financial success, ■ showing a profit of ,£77. The thanks 1 oi the executive are due to all those i who in any way helped to make the I gathering the success it was. \ our committee, however, feel that some j more attractions must he added to’ the programme for future gatherings, and have decided to put a hand contest on the programme, and look forward I with a liberal prize money to induce | the whole of the hands on this coast |to compete.—The executive, at the re--1 quest of a number of members, have I arranged a visit to the Moumahaki 'State Farm on Thursday next. ComJplete arrangements have been made ■with the railway and farm authorities, ‘and given a fine day the trip should ,be enjoyable and instructive. We |would remind members that they must [give their names to the secretary not j later than Tuesday next.—The- As isociation’s financial year has just closjed, and has been most successful. The annual meeting has been fixed for Saturday, 29th May, when a full report and balance-sheet will be placed before the members. The grounds are in full order and the buildings in good repair. We would again urge upon the general committee the need of keeping up the membership of the Association, and we would ask them to endeavour to do everything-in their power to get new members, and so help to strengthen the finances of the Association. As this is the last meeting of tire executive, they wish to tender their best thanks to the general committee for their assistance and help during the past year, and ask For the continuance of their support to the new executive.

The President (Mr E. Jackson), in moving the adoption of the report, said that considering the counter-at-tractions, the profit from the gymkhana was very satisfactory. During the year several improvements had been made to the ground and the paddock fenced. He appealed for new members, pointing out that the membership was the backbone of the Association. He trusted that they would got a good increase in members during the coming year. Mr J. B. Richards seconded the adoption of the report, and congratulated the executive on the way they have worked in the interests of the Association. He was pleased to notice that part of the profit was donated to the Belgian Relief ' Fund. He, however. wanted more information re band contest.

The President said they had circularised all the bands on the coast, informing them that the Association had decided to hold a band contest. Mr R. McK. Morison said he was disappointed that no mention was made in the report re the removal of the people’s stand. He considered the stand should he shifted alongside the members’ stand.

Mr W. H. H. Young pointed out that the Stratford Defence Corps had also had the use of the grounds for the shooting competitions. Mr D. Malone said that the executive had in their minds the putting on of an entireley different programme for the next gymkhana, and he believed that with a band contest and other events, the gymkhana would he even a better success than in the past. Mr R. Masters said he had no fear that the band contest would be a great success, but it required a good lot of working up. They should enlist the sympathy and help of those who had previously managed band contests. The report was adopted. Mr R. 10. Respinger, J. W. King., W. B. Cubbin and J. Robinson were elected members of the Association.
