A deputation of Northern Rivers farmers and dairymen asked Air Hall (Alinister of Agriculture) to increase the price of butter to Is lid. They stated that the introduction of artificial fixed prices meant crushing out of tenant farmers and the alternative to becoming penniless, and homeless was to cross the border to Queensland or elsewhere. The people of Sydney were living in luxury,and farmers were suffering many hardships and losses. They asked to be permitted to have free trade with other states; Mr Hall said that/ while, promising t 6 place their, case before the Commodities Commission, ho would bo no party to allowing the industry to be worked at a loss and those engaged therein to be driven out, SHIPPING.
