Speaking of the outbreak in Wanganui, the Prime Minister stated to a Post reporter that what happened was not tire way by which our indignation at tire Germans’ detestable methods should be shown. Enemy subjects in this country are under strict supervision, and any indication of sympathy with the enemy or hostility to Britain is immediately followed by internment at-Somes Island or Motuihi. while any assistance to tire enemy by imparting information or in any other way will Ire followed by a court martial and a punishment to fit the offence. If more becomes necessary more will be dortc. Enemy subjects could not. according to instructions from the Imperial authorities, be sent out of New Zealand during tiro war period. Mr Massey added that he hoped ortr people, indignant though they may be, would remember that they are British and act accordingly.
