CORE GETS ANCRY. Pke Phbbi association. Gore, May 15. There .was a recruiting meeting here la<t evening, and when Mr H. 1). Bedford, of Dunedin, nearing the close of a stirring speech, appealed for recruits, an unpleasant incident occurred. A well-known local solicitor, Mr W. F. Inder said , he. objected to Salvation Army methods and made reference to Dunedin speakers, who he said were not heeded to teach Gore patriotism. The interjectors appeal to the crowd was angrily resented, and the police escorted M r Inder outside, the crowd in numbers following and becoming excited. Later- the crowd assembled outside the post office, where Mr Inder was. The crowd demanded an apology, which was made, Mr Inder saying he apologised if the crowd thought he had insulted Mr Bedford or the crowd. Later-still, an angry crowd escorted Mr Inder along the 1 street to his hotel, where, after some time, the gathering dispersed. BRITISH AND BELGIAN RELIEF FUND. Amount acknowledged £l-171 3s lOd, S.
