GERMAN OFFENSIVE REPULSED. Tho Premier has received the following from the High Commissioner: London, May 14 (5.5 a.m.) On Tuesday night large enemy forces began an offensive in the Shaoli region, and five attacks were repulsed by the Russians, who on the following morning, defeated an outflanking column, capturing several hundred prisoners. The intensity of the fighting in Western Galicia increased on Tuesday and Wednesday. In Eastern Galicia the Russian offensive on the right bank of the Dueister was continued successfully. Two German battalions leading a counter-at-tack were annihilated and a third surrendered. At Horendenka the enemy began a disorderly retreat, and several thousand prisoners, guns, and ammunition were taken. AUSTRIANS CLAIM CAPTURE OF RUSSIAN GENERAL. (Received 9.30 a.m.) London, May 14. An Austrian communique claims to have captured ' General Rorniloff and his entire staff. GERMANS THROWN BACK IN GALICIA. The Premier has received the following from the High Commissioner: London, May 14 (3.15 p.m.) The Germans have been thrown back in Eastern Galicia and the Russians assumed the offensive, and in the Carpathians the enemy attacks have been beaten off.
