FRUITLESS ARCTIC SEARCH.
Times and Sydney Sun Seeviok. (Received 8 a.m.) Loudon, J\iay 18. Toronto reports that the search for Stofansson, tlie explorer, was fruitless. '
Viljainuir Stefansson, the well-known arctic explorer,whose age is 86, was the son of Icelandic parents, who hud emigrated to Canada, and lie was born in Winnipeg. Then, as his parents removed to the United tSates, he graduated at the University at lowa. Ho was Professor of Anthropology at Harvard University, and paid two visits to Iceland on ethnological expeditions. He journeyed in 1906 to the Arctic shores of Canada by way of Mackenzie River .and spent the winter among the Eskimos, learning their language. He spent four years with Dr. Anderson in the Arctic finding copper. In 1918 he started on a new expedition under Canadian auspices.
