BILLIARDS.
There was a fair gathering of billiardists at Kelly’s billiard room, Broadway, last evening, to witness a game between Clark McConociiy, the well-known player, and Mr bred Dunlop. The game was 7.50 up. Mr Dunlop being conceded half the points. The visitor “broke them up” and made 39, which break stood for some time, but it was five times beaten during the game, scores of 46, 71, 98, 1-5, and 12.5 being registered at intervals. McConochy finished up with a break of 33 which carried him many points over 750. Mr Dunlop scored 300, putting up some respectably sized breaks, notably 23, 28, 21, 23, 17, 19, 18. The visitor’s strong cue is undoubtedly losing hazards, but he showed excellent all-round play, and was loudly applauded. His exhibition of fancy shots at the conclusion of the evening was keenly watched. The critics say Mr Dunlop has played better, but the call for cheers for this popular “sport” was heartily responded to.
