The Stratford Evening Post WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED THE EGMONT SETTLER MONDAY, MAY 10, 1915. DASTARD MURDERERS.
The worst fears regarding the loss of life through the sinking of the Lusitania have been realised, and the murdered men and women who were on that ship number no less than fifteen hundred souls. It is more than a mvstery why, in face of the open threats of the vile Germans, armed escort was not provided, or that in some way the great loss of life was not minimised. But until the lull facts are permitted to he known, surmise is useless. That the degraded outlaw enemy long premeditated and carefully planned this colossally cold-blood-ed crime, is assured, and to-day the world is horrified but not afraid. Such atrocity will hut steel the hearts of men to seek vengeance on these human savages. Words fail to express the abhorrence that such foul deeds must create for Germany and all things German. Never can this dishonoured nation regain her place in the world’s trust or esteem.
