MR NEWTON KING’S REPORT
On Tuesday, the 4th May, I held my sale of above produce, to an average attendance of buyers. Owing to it* being only three weeks since my previous sale, the offerings were consequently smaller. The catalogues comprised 14 bales and 69 sacks ot wool, 1669 sheepskins, 7 casks and 64 bins of tallow, 127 hides, 67 calfskins, and 5 sacks of horsehair. The difficulties attending the shipment of produce and the rise in freights are adversely affecting prices on some lines. As anticipated hides declined Id to jd .per lb, tallow also declined Is per cwt., sheepskins met a very strong market and advanced id to fd per lb., the lines benefiting most being good pelted i to jj-wools, which sold as high a.s lOd and 10fd per lb. Salted sheep were easier.
