In the House of Commons Sir Edward Grey said the report on the treatment of German prisoners had been forwarded to Berlin, requesting the same treatment. AN UNEXPECTED SHOT. Dr. Macnamara (Secretary to the Admiralty) admitted that a gunner fired on a destroyer which was anchored at Newport, Monmouth, while explaining the mechanism to lady visitors. The gunner had not noticed the firing charge, and it was not removed. Disciplinary measures are being taken. The torpedo narrowly missed an Italian steamer and struck the side of the dock. Mr Evelyn Wrench (of the Navy League), lias emphasised the scantiness of the official reports referring to the noble efforts of the Australians in fighting unparallelled obstacles.
