THE SAFETY OF THE MEN. Pkb. Prkwh Ahhoctatton, Hamilton, May 0. Mr Raw.son, S.M., to-day convicted the managers of the Huntly and Taupiri mines for failing to cause reasonable precautions to he taken to secure the safety of the men, and also of- failing to appoint sufficient underviewers to cause the mine to be inspected, daily, and fined them £5 Is and costs. The first were convicted without a line, and there was a secoud charge. The decision affects every coalmine in the Dominion. To the Tanpiri Company it means an additional expense of £SOOO yearly.
