German patrols appeared near Libau and German torpedoers visited the Gulf of Riga. GERMANS CLAIM SUCCESS IN CALICIA. (Received 10.55 a.m.) Amsterdam, May 3. A German communique states: We have taken 1,780 Russian prisoners south of Nubau. After severe fighting in west Galicia from the Hun garian frontier to Dunajae on the Vistula, we penetrated the Russian front at numerous points, and pushed the Rusians back everywhere, those escaping being hotly pursued.
