MANAIA GUN CLUB.

The Manaia Gun Club had its opening day on Wednesday afternoon with a £25 shoot. The/ weather was most unfavorable, as rain fell continuously during the match. There, was a muster of 21 shooters, and an excellent attendance of the public. As a preliminary a 5s sweepstake was shot off between the competitors, and was divided between Messrs Whittle and Harrison, with a possible of seven birds each. Mr Whittle, of Stratford, took first prize with a possible of 15 birds, the last 13 of which were obtained with the first barrel. Messrs Lineham (Midhirst), Wheeler (Kltham), and Marsh (Te Uoti) tied for the second prize of £lO, and agreed to divide, taking £3 each. They then shot off for the remaining £l, which was won by Mr Lineham.
