Mr Strack, 8.A., of the District High School, is joining the reinforcements. Air .Muller, postmaster at Jlakaia, lias been appointed to succ~e 1 -Mr AV. If. Kennedy as postmaster at Patea. A resolution of sympathy with Mr and Mrs Marfell in the loss of their son was passed at yesterday’s meeting of the Taranaki Education Board. At a meeting of the executive of the Xew Zealand Alliance, the .Rev. W. J. Comrie was reappointed chairman, and Mr AA'. J. Drown honorary treasurer. Surgeoif-Major C. E. Maguire, superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, who proceeded to Treutham a few weeks ago, has been appointed officer commanding the field ambulance attached to the oth Reinforcements. The death occurred at Xapier early this morning of E. AA'. Knowles, formerly proprietor of the Daily Telegraph and 'managing director of tiie I Voss Association, at the age of 82, states the Press Association. Owing to the resignation of Mr 11. H. Ostler, senior Crown Law officer, and the promotion of Air, P. S. it. Macasscy to that position, Mr A'. 11. Meredith, of AVellington, has been appointed to tlie Crown Law Office, and Will commence his duties on Monday. Mr J. Heslop, of Eltham, who has just returned from a trip abroad, has been reappointed a member of the Taranaki Education Board, and took bis seat at yesterday’s meeting. .Air Heslop was welcomed by the chairman (Mr Bullard) and members. AVith the break of one year,„ Mr Heslop lias served for twenty years on the board. The partnership hitherto existing between Messrs Robinson and Christophers, Civil Engineers and Licensed Surveyors. Stratford and Hawera. has been dissolved. Mr Robinson continuing to carry on the business of Hie lute firm. Mr Christophers lias accepted the position of Engineer to Hobson Conntv.
